Does anybody here have experience with this system (http://www.vervelivingsystems.com/) ?
It sounds pretty cool to us. All lighting in the house would be wired to a centralized controller and all the light switches in the house would be wireless not requiring any wires to be run in the wall at all.

We are concerned if the system is reliable. Any real world experiences?

The wireless protocol was developed by Siemens in 2001 and a new company was created called Enocean (http://www.enocean.com/).  There is also an Enocean Alliance (http://www.enocean-alliance.org/en/) with over 100 companies using this protoco with over 10,000 buildings in Europe using this technology.  Verve Living Systems has created a 10 channel lighting controller using the Enocean protocol.  Current projects using the Verve Living System in the USA are: Make It Right (Brad Pitt's Project in New Orleans), Pulte and Centec Homebuilders along with 30 custom builders.   I would be happy to answer any technical question.  Dennis Carignan - Field Technical Manager - Verve Living Systems 336-404-5130 or dcarignan@vervelivingsystems.com

Very, very interesting. We are building a new LEED Certified home in North Central Florida and this lighting system looks so good I have passed the info to my contractor and he is seriously looking into it.

My only concern is warrantees and replacement part, since it is new to the US.

Thanks,

DaveS

Verve Living Systems is owned by Masco Inc (www.masco.com), a top 250 Fortune 500 company. The wireless protocol was developed by EnOcean (www. Enocean.com) and has been installed in over 10,000 building in Europe since 2001. Several other USA companies are using this protocol for the commercial markets including Levinton, but Verve was developed for the residential market. We have a lifetime warranty on the switches and a 5 year warranty (industry standard) on the 10 channel controller. We have about 1000 controllers and 10,000 switches in stock. We offer training for your electrical contractor and upgrading of your electrical drawing at no charge. Please feel free to call me if you have any other questions. This can't be a question for me; I don't know what a DIY'er is. Duh

Oh, OK. Can't help you there, but I bet someone else here can. I passed the info along to our contractor who passed it to his electrician sub-contractor. He said he has done similar but not that on, but shouldn't be a problem for him. Myself; I wouldn't try DIY. I afraid I'd SIU. (Screw it Up)

This system looks pretty nice. I am a bit concerned about the quality and feel of the switches. A nice, comparable would be Colorado VNet. Quality is quite high and similar wiring and setup. I wish I could retro my house with these systems.

Does anyone know if other radio frequencies can interfere with the operation of the Verve system?

Thanks in advance,

DaveS

The Verve Living System uses a digital momentary signal (less than 1 second) at 315 MHz.  This frequency band is considered the "garage door" frequency, since it is used for short burst signals.
No other frequencies will interfere with the Verve Living System since this system uses a  32 bit digital signal with a unique code for every switch.

Thanks,

Thanks Dennis,

We are considering the Verve System for our LEED Certified home in Florida. We are at the final stages of design and we expect to break ground in January.

My only other concern is: The wiring system won't accommodate standard lighting, so if replacement parts are no longer available, I am SOL and it would be very expensive to rewire our home for standard lighting switches.

Not to take away from Verve (cause its a good looking system) but Lutron has a similar system, RadioRA2 and HomeWorks

I came across this system.

There seems no distributors, which worries me. Just local agents.

Seems to be quite common in this sector.

I saw a high end install yesterday from Vantage, very impressive, more wire than wood. But pricing seems very difficult to get.

We are going with the Verve Lighting system. We are planning on breaking ground on our LEED Certified home in a few more weeks. We had a demonstration of the system and were very much impressed with the flexibility and ease of set-up and use. Once installed I intend to post our final thoughts on the system, so stay tuned.

Best Regards,
DaveS

1. Just wondering why you are going for LEED certification, seems to be a lot of money for a piece of paper.

2. How were you introduced to Verve, there seems no info on cost etc.

1. I guess you are intitled to your opinion, but I look at LEED as a good way to insure a well built sustainable home, worth every penny extra.

2. As far as Verve goes, get a quote, I did.
