Anyone installed the new Rheem Geothermal unit?  I believe it's manufactured by Climate Master.

Rheem doesn't provide much info on their website. I did find a press release, but beyond that, Rheem doesn't seem too excited to be in the geo biz.

I'm innately skeptical of rebadging and marketing. If Rheem resells CM, and you like CM, why not just buy a CM? Why complicate matters with a seemingly disinterested middleman?

Rheem, though an old line company, could decide to abandon its foray into geo, leaving owners with orphans. Service could likely still be obtained via CM contractors, but they'd have to wade through a thicket of unfamiliar literature, differring part number schemes, etc.

I agree with one exception.
Heat controller is a relabled CM and has been in the biz since the 70's. The warranties they offer are longer than any other I know of (12 year compressor). In that instance I would not (and do not) turn my nose up at a rebadge.
The shortcoming of the label is that they are available to everybody....literally. Every supply house, every contractor. Their name takes a hit from time to time due to incompetant installations.
A curious side note, the same outfit offers Comfortaire furnaces that are relabled Rheems. I wonder if there is a connection to Rheems selection of CM.

Carrier and Bryant offer relabled CM's as well. Their dealers actually pay more than they would for a comparable CM.

Nice feature Hydron.......I guess Comfortaire has the second best compressor warranty I've heard of.

Typical house changes hands inside of 10-12 years. Air coil, blower, controls, and balance of refrigerant system components are absent from that warranty.

How impressed would you be with an engine-only, parts-only warranty on a new car?

Geo is rarely purchased by "typical" people.
I think it's fair to say that geo is for long term homeowners and thinkers. I get your point that Hydron's bet is hedged, but it is not liability free.
